✝️ Question: The Romans crucified the Lord Jesus Christ. Yet, in your sermons, you say, “The Cross killed Jesus, and the Cross will kill us too.” Since the Cross is just an instrument, how does it kill us?
- The Cross – Divine Decree and Instrument: The Cross was not merely a death instrument invented by the Romans; it was the path sovereignly chosen by God to fulfill His plan for human salvation. The scripture foretold, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” (Deuteronomy 21:23). The Lord chose that instrument to bear our curse.
- Jesus and the Cross are Inseparable: One cannot separate Christ from His Cross. That is why Apostle Paul did not just preach Christ, but said, “I preach Christ crucified.” A Christ who was not crucified could not be our Savior; that sacrifice is the root of our salvation.
- How does the instrument kill us?: When we believe in the Sacrificial Man who laid down His life on the Cross and rose again, divine power from that death of the Cross enters our inner selves. That power slays the ego, hatred, and selfishness within us that must die, and brings to life a new divine nature.
