- Human Perspective: However, from a human standpoint, these are achievements we cannot attain and problems we cannot confront. Just as the Israelites were terrified upon seeing the Red Sea, they were equally frightened by Og, the King of Bashan. He was extremely powerful, and the Israelites had lost all hope of defeating him.
- Impossible Obstacles: Therefore, from the Israelites’ point of view, defeating someone like Og was as impossible as crossing the Red Sea. They were that terrified.
- The Reason for Eternal Mercy: The reason it is said “His mercy endures forever” is because the Israelites were the recipients of that eternal mercy. They were the descendants of Abraham, born according to the promise, redeemed by the blood of the Passover Lamb, and recipients of the Law. These were their privileges.
- Divine Resolution: Since the mercy God gave to Israel is eternal, He destroyed or resolved every person, power, problem, and situation that caused them fear.
