- Divine Power for Impossible Acts: When impossible acts must occur on earth and are necessary for God’s divine plan, a believer is required to believe in them. However, since it is an impossibility—something that has never happened before—no matter how devout a believer is, they would not naturally be in a state to believe it. Yet, the work happens only if they believe. At that moment, God Himself provides the strength required to believe; this is what is called the ‘Gift of Faith’.
- Moses and the Red Sea: For instance, when Moses stood before the Red Sea, he believed it would split, a path would be created, and they would walk through. Until then, no one had ever done such a thing. Thus, God provided the strength to believe at that moment.
- Joshua and the Celestial Bodies: Similarly, when Joshua prayed, the sun and moon stood still. In human history, this happened only once. No one had done it before, and no one has done it since. Therefore, there was no logical basis for Joshua to believe it. But because that miracle was necessary, God gave him the confidence and power required to offer that prayer as a Gift.
- Hezekiah and the Shadow: Likewise, when Hezekiah prayed, the shadow of the sun moved backward. These are things in the Bible that no one had asked for before or after. When miracles are necessary for God’s plan, God cannot act unless a believer asks (because this world is currently Satan’s domain).
- Conclusion: Since such immense faith is required to ask, God places an element of His own ‘Faith’ into the heart of that believer. Without them even realizing it, they offer that prayer with total conviction, and then the deed is accomplished. This is called the ‘Spiritual Gift of Faith’.
