Detailed English Translation:
- The Place of Renouncing Selfishness: The Altar is the place where we renounce our selfishness. Sacrifice means choosing to consider what is profitable to us as a loss for the sake of God. For example, selling a lamb might fetch a thousand rupees, or eating it would be delicious. However, giving it up because I love God more than that money or that tasty food is the essence of the Altar. Here, we are incinerating our ‘desire for self-gain’.
- Wine and Impurity: Regarding wine, it is harmful. Pouring it on the Altar signifies surrendering our bad habits to God. God does not ask us to feed Him if He is hungry (Psalm 50). The Altar is not a place where we provide a meal for God; it is the place where He burns away things within us that are detestable to Him.
- Spiritual Principle: As I wrote in a song: “Realizing that suffering loss for Christ is wealth, and considering all worldly gain as loss…” – this is the core purpose of the Altar. Suffering loss for the sake of God is the true sacrifice.
- Conclusion: When we surrender the things within us that God dislikes, He incinerates them and purifies us. That brings joy to God. Suffering loss for God is our true gain.
