⚔️ Question: Killing the ego is not easy. What is the method of crucifying this ego? What does it mean to slay enmity through the Cross?
- The Cross – God’s Powerful Weapon: The Cross is not just a tool that took Christ’s life; it is God’s weapon to destroy the ego rooted in our inner selves. Apostle Paul clearly declared in Galatians 6:14, “But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” For our boasting to die, the experience of the Cross is essential.
- Slaying the Enmity: According to Ephesians 2:14-16, Christ is our peace, who has broken down the middle wall of separation and abolished the enmity in His flesh. Through the Cross, He “slew the enmity,” reconciling us into one body with God. Thus, the Cross did not just kill Jesus; it slays the hatred within our hearts.
- Inner Purification: Slaying the hatred within our minds and hearts is a miraculous work of the Holy Spirit. If we sincerely desire this transformation, kneel before God, fast, and pray truthfully, this internal purification will surely occur.
- Reflecting the Nature of Christ: Only one whose ego is dead can speak with a broad heart, saying, “Brother, let us agree to be siblings in Christ even while we disagree on certain points.” Once the Cross kills the “I” within us, Christ becomes visible to everyone through us.
