🩸 Question: Apostle Paul said, “I preach Christ crucified.” Is the basis of our salvation that piece of wood or the sacrifice that took place there? How should we perceive the Cross?
- The Sacrificial Man is the Basis: The ‘Cross’ does not refer to the physical piece of wood. Our foundation is the “Sacrificial Man” or our “Passover Lamb”—Christ—who hung on that wood, was sacrificed, and rose again. The divine power emanating from that sacrifice, His death, and resurrection is the source of our salvation.
- As Though Set Forth Crucified: In Galatians 3:1, Paul mentions that “Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified.” This means we must always perceive Christ in that sacrificial state—as the one who became the atoning sacrifice in our stead. Only when we focus on that sacrifice does a sinner experience the reality of salvation.
