- The Desire for Entertainment: If you ask the crowds why they don’t seek scriptural depth, they might admit they aren’t looking for deep biblical answers. People often prefer stories, myths, or messages that simply make them feel good. They look for ‘rolled gold’ (imitation) because the cost of real gold—the cost of following absolute Truth—is too high for them.
- Fulfillment of Prophecy: The Bible itself foretold this. Apostle Paul warned Timothy that a time would come when people would not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they would gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the Truth.
